One of the most powerful features is our Estimating Extensions.

The estimating extensions power up your basic measurements by generating extra estimating results.

Estimating extensions are available for many construction trades: Roofing, Concrete, Painting, Insulation, Drywall, Floor Coverings, Siding, Framing etc.

The estimating extensions are sorted by categories and by usage type. For example, the "Concrete Slab" extension from the "Concrete" category will generate comprehensive results for this particular job type (volumes of concrete). One or many extensions can be associated to an object group. Extensions can also be saved along with an object as a template for future use.

An estimating extension is usually associated to an object at the object (Area, Perimeter, Length, Counter) creation stage from the tool ribbon.

Once the group properties (name, color, pattern etc.) are set, click on the "Extensions" tab, then on the "Select an Extension..." button.

The "Extension details" window will appear and ask to choose the extension to be associated with the current group.

In this window are two (2) dropdown menus:

  • Category : Selects the "trade" (Painting, insulation, drywall...) which filters the contents of the second dropdown menu.
  • Usage type : Displays the available choices for the selected "trades".

In this example, we associate a "Brick Masonry" extension to our current group.

Then, enter the necessary extension information by using the dropdown menus ant the numeric fields.

When the extension information is entered, click "OK". Our extension is now configured!

You can now proceed with your measurements, as usual.

Once everything is measured, the "Properties" panel will display the group results and the extension results in separate tabs : Here, the amount of bricks required to do this masonry job.

It is possible to associate other extensions to an object, to modify the configuration of an existing extension or to delete an associated extension from a group.

In the example below, we have added a "Price per Area" extension to get a total price for this brick area.

As you can see, it is easy to get complete results by associating one or many extensions to an object group.

The bottom line is all extension results are clearly visible on your takeoff report
